There are several ways you can choose to take part in UI Advise.  Commitment levels range from simply showing up to a one-time event through recurring volunteer work on a UI Advise subcommittee.  If you have questions about any aspect of involvement in our campus-wide advising group, you are welcome to contact us.

Possible options might include any of the following:

  • Attend a social event.  The UI Advise Social / Recognition Committee regularly organizes events for UI Advise on campus.  These could include tours, luncheons, and other gatherings  to help advising professionals get to know their campus colleges and learn more about the university.  Check our events calendar for upcoming offerings.
  • Attend a webinar. Three or four times during the spring and fall terms, UI Advise sponsors advising related webinars.  Check our events calendar for upcoming offerings. Events are held in C210 PC. Contact Maureen Schafer with any questions.
  • Attend our fall or spring Professional Development Day.  Typically held in December and May, these half-day conferences in the IMU offer an opportunity to learn, discuss timely advising issues, and connect with colleagues across campus. Check our events calendar for details in the weeks leading up to each offering.
  • Become involved with UI Advise leadership efforts.  We currently have three working subcommittees: Professional Development, Shared Training, and Social / Recognition.  If you would like to roll up your sleeves and help out, please contact us.
